Corvette E-Ray vs Tuned Lamborghini Aventador SV Drag Race

This Corvette E-Ray proves its worth by taking down not only a $600k Lamborghini Aventador SV, but also, a modded GT-R as well.

By now, it has become rather obvious that the C8 generation Corvette is a true supercar, a model that quite literally moved into another dimension of performance when GM transformed it into a mid-engine format. As if the base Stingray isn’t impressive enough at the track, the Z06 is even more so, and now, we have the first-ever hybrid variant in the Corvette E-Ray, which has done nothing thus far but impress us with its straight-line performance. It’s oftentimes difficult to put things like this in perspective, however, at least until we start to see these cars line up against far more expensive, more powerful, and more exotic machinery – and that’s precisely what happens in this new video from stock car driver, Navy vet, YouTuber, and CorvetteForum memberJesse Iwuji.

Recently, Iwuji slapped a set of wheels and some drag radials on his brand new Corvette E-Ray and headed to the drag strip, where he proceeded to participate in a big callout from fellow YouTuber Demonology, where he was assisted by yet another fellow YouTuber, Brink of Speed. After checking out the wide array of competition, it’s time for his very first race – which is against a formidable opponent – a Nissan GT-R loaded with bolt-ons that’s making somewhere around 650-700 horsepower.

Expectations are tempered a bit since this is a hot 80+ degree day, but the Corvette E-Ray doesn’t seem to be too phased by that – in fact, it takes the early lead on the GT-R and never looks back, running a 10.63 at 127 mph right out of the gate – even with Iwuji’s slightly slower reaction time. However, he doesn’t have much time to celebrate, because Iwuji’s next opponent is a $600k Lamborghini Aventador SV, a V12-powered machine that has reportedly been tuned, though it churns out 769 hp in stock form already.

None of that matters when the rubber meets the road, however, as the Corvette E-Ray enjoys a better launch and takes advantage by building a sizable lead, which it maintains through the end, even as the Lambo starts to gain a bit at the big end. Iwuji winds up running a 10.65-second pass at 126 mph this time around, showing some serious consistency right away. Of course, this day isn’t quite over yet, so once again, Iwuji doesn’t have much time to celebrate.

That’s because his next opponent is a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, a car that churns out over 1,000 hp and – according to the automaker – is capable of running an 8.91-second quarter-mile from the factory. It seems as if that’s fairly accurate – at least in this case -because the Demon simply walks away from the E-Ray and never looks back. Regardless, the Iwuji’s Corvette E-Ray runs another incredibly consistent 10.68-second pass at 125 mph, proving that this electrified supercar is a true force to contend with at the drag strip – and seemingly will be for a long time to come.
