Corvette Fuelie

After an elaborate body-off restoration, this Honduras Maroon’62 Corvette Fuelie is ready for a new owner.

Ever wanted to own a piece of Corvette Racing history? We recently came across a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie up for sale on Hemmings with an amazing list of racing accolades to its name. In 1962 Ben Moore won the Northeast SCCA A-Production Divisional Championship for Hauser Chevrolet with this particular ‘Vette. The classic sports car was also put through an elaborate body-off restoration process by “The Crew” at ProTeam Corvette sales.

In addition to his glorious heritage, the car’s styling also sets it apart from Corvettes of that era. Some of the most striking elements of this Corvette Fuelie include the pro-mounted Maroon roll bar that sits behind the cockpit, the driver-side racing windshield, and its beautiful ghost racing stripes. We also find heavy-duty brakes, double front sway bars, and heavy-duty shock absorbers and springs underpinning this eye-catching ensemble.

Under the hood of this Corvette Fuelie racer, we find a 5.4-liter 327 cubic-inch V8 engine.

The Golden Bow Tie brand offered this equipment as part of the RPO 687 package. Only 246 examples share the same spec as this classic ‘Vette. As part of the RPO 697 package, aka Sebring race package, the car also received small diameter hub caps and wider steel wheels. The sports car’s powerplant could churn out 360 HP of maximum power in its factory tune.

Rochester fuel injection system, a “Duntov” solid-lifter camshaft, and high-flow cylinder heads were responsible for this racer’s impressive performance. This was also the most powerful motor that Chevrolet offered in production models at the time.

This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie is a number matching example that in 1962 competed in as many as six events. The car is currently located in Napoleon, Ohio, and can be yours for $199,000. The seller ProTeam Corvette Sales will also throw in racing roundels and a pair of rally lights as part of the deal.
