We already knew the C8 Z06 was going to be fast around a track, but it’s pretty darn quick in a straight line, too.

While we know pretty much everything there is to know about the forthcoming C8 Z06 Corvette by now, there are a few unanswered questions that we’re stuck with. One of the biggest is the official C8 Z06 quarter-mile time, which GM conveniently left out during the new high-performance, track-focused Corvette’s reveal. We already knew that it will rocket to 60 miles-per-hour in just 2.6 seconds, so we expected the C8 Z06 quarter-mile time to be similarly impressive. Turns out, it is.

We know this because Corvette Forum member Z0Sick6 stumbled across a display of the car recently that reveals the fact that the newest Z06 will run the quarter-mile in just 10.6 seconds. That’s rather quick, of course, but it also just so happens to mirror GM’s quoted time for the mighty C7 ZR1 – a car that used 755 supercharged horsepower to get down the track. As a reminder, the C8 Z06 needs just 670 horsepower to do the same thing.

What’s even more impressive about this time is the fact that it’s competitive with some pretty darn expensive machinery, like the BMW M8 Competition and Nissan GT-R Nismo, as well as the much more powerful Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. A Porsche 911 Turbo S will take it down, but you’ll have to dish out at least $173k to run roughly a half-second quicker.

Of course, this is also a manufacturer-provided virtual time slip, which means that it’s likely owners will produce even better real-world results. It will be interesting to see if GM is sandbagging these numbers or if they’ll turn out to be accurate, but we’d almost bet on the former. And even if 10.6 is the number, that’s still undoubtedly impressive for a car built to be fast around a track – not just in a straight line.
